Many of you have asked how we can help the families affected by Hurricane Harvey. On Tuesday morning, 9/5, we will be collecting items in the parent pick up lane from 7:40-8:10 am. We would like to collect: Toiletries (shampoo, toothbrushes, etc.) / Peanut Butter / Cleaning Supplies / Diapers / Pet Food / Trash Bags & Gallon Zip Lock Bags. We are hoping to deliver many of these supplies to Mr. Scott Rogers, former AP here at Bradley, who is the current Principal of Rockport High School. Thank you in advance for your generous donations!

On Friday, you will have the chance to eat a tasty sample of our Watermelon and Cucumber Salad. Can you guess the weight of the largest watermelon and the size of the longest cucumber? The largest watermelon in the world weighed an estimated 350 pounds and the longest cucumber grew to an astounding 44 inches! That’s compared to an average watermelon that weighs 20 pounds and an average cucumber of about 9 inches! So try a sample this Friday and if you like it, let us know. We could add it to the menu next year!

Did you know that Watermelon and cucumbers are related to each other? In fact, they are also related to pumpkins, squash and cantaloupe! Cucumber and Watermelon are good sources of vitamin K and C, which helps improve your bone health and immune system. Watermelon originated in Africa while Cucumber originated in India. Don’t forget to come through the cafeteria line for your Fun Food Friday sample!
